One Planet Products Launch at House of Commons, 23rd June 2008

One Planet Products, the award winning not-for-profit business committed to reducing the environmental impact of housing developments, launched its next phase of innovative services at a reception held at the House of Commons on Monday 23rd June.

The reception, hosted by Malcolm Wicks MP and sponsored by Rydon Construction, introduced the new website service, which identifies potential suppliers of environmentally sustainable products.

The service assesses suppliers in relation to the One Planet Living principles, which allows members to identify sustainable suppliers in a more efficient and cost effective way.

One Planet Products recruited a team of leading professionals to carry out the assessments.

Mark Mitchener, Director at Rydon Construction, comments “One Planet Products saves us time, and therefore money, researching the best environmental products. Sponsoring this event is a key showing of our continued support of this invaluable service.”

The site also gives Code for Sustainable Homes credits and environmental information, including energy, carbon, and water savings, cost, lifetime and payback periods.

Managed as a member-led service, One Planet Products has already amassed some 200 of the country’s leading developers, housing associations and architects.

One Planet Products is a subsidiary of leading environmental charity BioRegional Development Group. It was originally set up following the development of BedZED.
