About Real

Corporate Information

REAL is totally committed to a number of important regeneration values: working in partnership, excellent design, community support and engagement, environmental conservation and enhancement, are all fundamental to what we do. Where others might just say it, we do it. That is the REAL difference.

A REAL Approach to Partnership

Successful partnerships are a product of shared values, mutual respect and good communication. The team at REAL has worked closely with Housing Associations and Local Authorities for many years and shares with them an ambition and commitment to improving the communities in which people live.

REAL understands the financial pressures that can inhibit and limit the ideals aspired to by community regeneration. We work in partnership, seeking to maximise each opportunity and offer innovative funding solutions including the reinvestment of development margin back into the community initiative.

REAL is a creative and flexible partner who seeks to develop ideas cooperatively on every aspect of a project, developing new ways of working and speeding up improvements in delivery to tackle issues that really matter to local people.

Creating REAL communities

REAL understands that regeneration is not just about replacing old buildings with new ones. It is about creating environments in which people will chose to live and to stay in for many years to come.

This is reflected in our work with communities and residents. Consultation days, exhibitions, user group meetings community workshops and community days are all part of our approach. Our dialogue with the community is led by our own team of Resident Liaison Officers. Some of these may join us a part of our local employment and training initiatives which historically have exceeded the targets set for us by our clients.

REAL communities provide homes to buy or rent, places for children to play, locations for people to meet socially, and green open spaces to just enjoy your surroundings. Travel and transport to and from work is carefully considered to make it as easy, practical and as environmentally friendly as possible.

REAL communities aim to be attractive to look at, pleasant to be in and practical and safe to live in.

A REAL Approach to Design

REAL is about excellent, sustainable design that will meet or exceed government criteria for environment and social goals, yet appeal to contemporary home buyers. REAL design is tenure blind, with sensible and appealing solutions that make the best use of space for residents.

REAL’s design ethos extends beyond the home, looking at ways to encourage community involvement, pedestrians and use of public transport over private vehicles.

Landscaping is an integral part of REAL design, not an afterthought, with native plants and climatic conditions carefully considered in planning the important green spaces that are part of every REAL project.

A REAL Approach to Sustainability

While REAL’s contemporary, practical and pleasing designs have genuine appeal, the properties are designed, built and operate as closely to the highest standards of current BRE environmental assessment as possible. From start to delivery, REAL looks for the best way to reuse, recycle and reduce waste on site, without compromising standards.

Wherever possible REAL homes help residents reduce negative impacts on the planet through inbuilt energy and water saving measures.

REAL is a founder member of One Planet Products, a working group through which members (housing associations, private developers and contractors) can purchase environmental products, materials and services easily and cost effectively.
